OSHKOSH — This weekend nearly 100 Special Olympic athletes from across the Wisconsin will participate in the 2010 National Games Selection Camp at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

“All nominated athletes will attend, and the final selection will be made Sunday,” said Special Olympics director Kelly Kloepping.

During the Assessment and Selection Camp, staff and coaches will assess the athletes’ behavior, self-help ability, sportsmanship, skill, and other traits before making final selections.

Team Wisconsin will join 3,000 athletes from across the country for the six day tournament slated to be held in Lincoln, Nebraska, July 17-23, 2010  .

Special Olympics Wisconsin athletes will give their strongest effort in sports including: bowling, aquatics, power lifting, golfing, basketball, tennis, bocce, soccer, rhythmic gymnastics, and athletics in hopes they will become one of the 64 athletes selected to represent Team Wisconsin at the 2010 USA National Games.

The Team Wisconsin Delegation will be announced next week.

Preps On The Net has highlighted Special Olympic athletes and positively promoted the 2009 State Summer games.
