MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee Recreation will host the 19th Annual Milwaukee Public Schools Special Olympics Basketball Classic Tournament from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 23 at South Division High School.
Forty-seven teams from Milwaukee, Ozaukee, and Washington counties will compete.
"These games will allow athletes to qualify for the Special Olympics District Tournament in March," said MPS assistant recreation supervisor Jodie Theis.
"With 47 teams registered, this is going to be the largest Basketball Classic we've ever hosted. We're ready for a great season."
This is the first tournament of the Special Olympics basketball season and Milwaukee's largest Special Olympics tournament of the year.
Admission is free and open to the public.
