MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Rufus King girls basketball team bounced back in conference with a win against Milwaukee Hamilton 50-28.

With quick rebounds and steady forced turnovers, Milw. King (7-1, 11-4) was put on top over the Wildcats (2-6, 5-8) with a 22-point lead.

Winning the tip-off, Avyanna Young put the ball in King’s possession making a quick lay-up within the first minute of the game.

Young finished with a team-high 15 points.

King senior Teresa Buchanan fought her way through the center putting up shots between Hamilton’s 6-foot twin duo Jade and Jazmin Wong.

Although it seemed difficult for Milw. King to get around the Wildcats wide defense, the Lady Generals found a way.

Buchanan ended the game with seven points,

Milw. Hamilton sophomore forwards Jazmin Wong finished with 9 points and Jade Wong scored two.

Junior forward Alyssa Balboa led Milw. Hamilton with a team-high 11 points.

The Wong sisters challenged Milw. King at times with blocked shots and consistent shooting.

“They create turnovers, rebounds, shots and dedication,” Milw. Hamilton head coach Marcus Switzer said.

The Lady Generals had to find a way to play around them.

Although the Wildcats had a strong team they were plagued with turnovers, missed shots, and sparse rebounding.

“We rushed a bit in the last two quarters,” Switzer said.

Milw. King found it hard to stay focused and dedicated throughout the game.

“They played a little sloppy tonight; the effort needs more work,” King head coach Craig Machut said.

Although critical of his team's performance, Machut was impressed with the girl’s ability to create turnovers and recover the ball.

The Lady Generals have five more City Conference games before facing rival Milwaukee Vincent March 3.
