East 5, South 4
In a 4-4 game in the bottom of the seventh inning, West Bend West’s Eric DuCharme started the inning off with a walk and scored when Menomonee Falls’ Ben Burns laid down a sacrifice bunt and a throwing error allowed DuCharme to come all the way around to score.
“I tried to take as many pitches as I could and made sure he threw strikes and came to me. Just find a way on so we could win the game,” DuCharme said. “When he sent me around third, I turned on the jets and didn’t stop until I touched home.”
South Milwaukee’s Luke Maldanado went 2 for 3 from the leadoff spot with a run scored, a double and an RBI for the East.
Wisconsin Heights’ Bryce Barsness went 2 for 2 with two runs scored for the South, including the run that tied the game in the top of the seventh when Sun Prairie’s Michael Handel singled him home.

In the bottom of the sixth the North scored five more runs, two of which scored when West De Pere’s Travis Mason singled and three more scored when Seymour’s Tyler Pfefferle tripled with the bases loaded.
“I was ahead in the count, so I was just looking fastball,” Mason said. “He gave me a fastball inside and I just went with it.

East 7, North 5, 9 innings
The best was saved for last as this one was tied 4-4 from the second inning into the fifth when the East took the lead when Burlington’s Dylan Friend brought in Nicolet’s Brian Huntsinger on a fielder’s choice.
After the North got it back even in the bottom of the sixth on a double steal that brought Appleton North’s Steve Lichtfuss in.
That score held until the top of the ninth when Burlington’s Cody Peterson started off the inning with a single and Huntsinger followed with one of his own.
After Mukwonago’s Jameson Sadowske was hit by a pitch, it set the stage for Friend and he delivered a two-run single to put the East up for good as West Bend West’s Eric DuCharme slammed the door in the bottom half of the inning.
“I have to be honest, I just went up there thinking I had to hit the ball hard and I came through,” said Friend of his mindset with one out in the ninth.
